This visualisation shows changing land usage on the home farm of the Courtown Estate, Co. Wexford between 1915 and 1928.

I scanned a second series Ordnance Survey map and uploaded it to ArcGIS where I georeferenced it.  I then digitised those fields that made up the home farm, creating a layer for each of the years.  In the attribute table I noted the land use.  Using the time slider functionality I created this visualisation.

Note the symbology:

  • Brown - land 'in hand'

  • Green - let land

  • Grey - land not let

  • Purple - land taken up by the Land Commission
